"My internship experience is far beyond my initial expectations, I consider my internship a two-part experience. Presently I am an intern at two different agencies, first with Blair Senior Services Inc. ( The Blair County Area Agency on Aging), my second experience being with the Altoona Housing Authority; located at the Eleventh and Green Towers here in Altoona. My internship is a part of the COPC grant between the Altoona Housing Authority, and Penn State Altoona.
I find my experience quite rewarding yet, challenging at the same time. My intern experience is preparing me for a future career in the human services field. My duties include client assessment for both new and existing clients. I am receiving hands on training in the latest care management computer systems. I've also been fortunate enough to experience first hand the important roles of agency networking, administration, and how to be a team player.
"I know that my internship will provide me with all the skills needed to become a social service professional. I have enjoyed my internship tremendously! I am very grateful to all the professors and staff that I've had the pleasure to work with since I started my educational journey, and I look forward to all the people that will be crossing my path in the future."
