Title: Safekids.com
URL (Internet "address"): http://www.safekids.com/
Sponsor: This website is sponsored by many different paying advertisers. It is also brought to the public by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Author/credentials: The author of this website is Larry Magid. He is the founder of Safekids.com.
Date posted: unknown
Description of Site: Many people still do not think of child's safety and the internet. This website discusses ways to help your child search through the internet while being safe. The creators of this website have different ways to help parents help kids. They have contracts and guidelines that can be posted next to the family computer and viewed by the child each time they use the computer. If the child is unsure if the site they are viewing is inappropriate or not, they can look at the guidelines or ask an adult that is around. This site includes links to other websites that have this type of information.

URL (Internet "address"): http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/portal/site/nhtsa/menuitem.9f8c7d6359e0e9bbbf30811060008a0c/
Sponsor: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration- NHTSA
Author/credentials: U.S. Department of Transportation- USDOT
Date posted: As apart of Section 207(f) (2) of the E-Government Act of 2002, each government agency was required to put their information up on-line. This information was posted in 2002.
Description of Site: This site is very interesting because of who sponsors the entire publication. As it is the U.S. DOT website, everyone gets the standards in safety for what the government wants. This is very important for a new parent who does not know what the standards are for their children. This website also shows where the NHTSA got their information from, all of the research that was done, and why the government uses this particular information as their national standard. This website also links to other areas of the NHTSA.
