Dr. Elizabeth Seymour is an Instructor in Anthropology, Division of Education, Human Development and Social Sciences at Penn State. She is experienced and skilled in cultural perspectives on diversity and in preparing students to understand, grow, and to work effectively with those who they may initially see as "different." Dr. Seymour is skilled in anthropology-based qualitative interview and research methods that focus more on conversation and listening, in contrast to structured formal surveys that; a.) assume the investigator knows best about what is to be learned from a respondent, and b.) are well-documented as reactive and threatening to many community residents. She is an accomplished teacher and will be actively involved in training students (from several participating courses) on successful interviewing skills and on strategies for organization and use of such information.
