Courses Involved: HD FS 496
Faculty Involved: Kevin Galbraith, Ph.D.

Students were involved in identifying credible web sites with good literature related to parenting and family life. Links to these sites are posted on the home page for the Altoona Housing Authority. Also a series of newsletters were delivered to 177 homes at Fairview Hills.

To encourage parents to read good parenting literature, an offer was extended through flyers distributed to each of the homes at Fairview Hills to receive a free parenting book. The title of the book is the Parents Handbook. Parents were able to choose among three versions of the book: one for parents with children who are under the age of six, one for parents with children between the ages of 6 to 12 and one for parents of teenagers.
