Jill Marie Maurer

Arts and Humanities programs have been integrated into the HUD COPC project. A Junior Communications Major, Jill's internship for fall 2007 was with the Altoona Area Public Library. It was a pleasure working at the Altoona Area Public Library. Through the library I was able to build community relationships, help put on intergenerational activities, and work in a professional environment. I also worked at Fairview Hills for a month, putting on a play for the after school program children's parents. . The goal driving all of Ms. Maurer's work is to get whole families--not just young children, teenagers, or the elderly but ALL members of a family or community--reading and talking about what they read. My internship was very important in helping my career goals grow.
