Kevin Galbraith, Ph.D.

Dr. Kevin Galbraith is an Assistant Professor of Human Development, Division of Education, Human Development and Social Sciences at Penn State Altoona. He is a certified marriage and family counselor, teaching courses on marital relationships, family communication, and interpersonal skills and supervises HD FS students on academic internships (including a number of successful placements – and subsequent hires– with the Altoona Housing Authority). His primary scholarly work focuses on variation in family organization, and how families can learn to understand and improve critical areas of family function. He is skilled in addressing issues of marital enhancement, parenting, family violence, and fatherhood within the context of community-based family services. He has a strong background in community-based service learning, conducting such projects as a Faculty associate of the Center for Public Scholarship. His areas of work are especially salient issues in the Fairview Hills community, but are also relevant in the senior towers, where elders cope with conflict and family difficulties among their children and relatives.
