Dr. Laura Rotunno is an Assistant Professor of English, Division of Arts and Humanities at Penn State. Specializing in nineteenth-century British literature, she teaches courses on that subject as well as composition classes. She is currently at work on a book-length manuscript investigating reading habits, literary professionalism, and the novel's popularity through the lens of the radically changing nineteenth-century British Post Office, a chapter of which won the 2005 Interdisciplinary Nineteenth-Century Studies Essay Prize. Her interest in literature has led her to become the founding faculty sponsor of the Penn State Altoona Society of Literature, a group of students committed to sharing their love of literature with other students and the community. Dr Rotunno's involvement in the HUD-COPC project focuses on the sharing of stories that keep all participants--the students of the Literature Club and the community members alike--talking and thinking and, hopefully, exposing all to new and different stories and ideas that will spur engaging and important discussions.
