Lauren Jacobson, Ph.D.
Instructor in Human Development & Family Studies
Dr. Lauren Jacobson is an Assistant Professor of Human Development and Family Studies, Division of Education, Human Development and Social Sciences. She has emphasized child development and parental strategies for promoting their children's development. Her radio public service announcements with parenting tips are widely heard in the Altoona region. Dr. Jacobsen has been active for a number of years in promoting and conducting evaluations on a program, "Celebrate Diversity," for local school students to improve their tolerance and cultural competency. She teaches research methods and has previously involved her students in conducting telephone interviews with ALA residents to evaluate the effects of a HUD-sponsored program to improve public safety in AHA communities (Jacobson, 2003).
