Mike Batcher, Summer 2006

Human Development and Family Studies
Mike worked with Sara Ciaverella to plan and implement a five-week program for children and adolescents living at Fairview Hills. They used Central Blair Recreation and Park Commission's framework to plan the program while adding an educational twist. One of their goals was to teach the children and adolescents leadership skills and the importance of teamwork. Activities ranged from catching salamanders, to racing canoes, and even a personal visit from the fire department. Mike and Sarah incorporated over thirty individuals and organizations into their program giving this young audience at Fairview Hills an amazing summer.
