Courses involved:
ECON 351
Faculty Involved: Barbara Wiens-Tuers
Students created pamphlets on the safety of banks, information on local banking institutions, benefits of homeownership, and information about buying a home for adult audiences. They also created a presentation for the teenage residents on credit management, savings, and college. The students decided to focus on family savings accounts administered by the Blair County Community Action Agency. The students met with John McKelvey of the Blair County Community Action Agency. When presenting to the residents of Fairview Hills, Mr. McKelvey was present so that residents could ask him detailed questions about the programs and become comfortable with him as their contact person at the Blair County Community Action Agency. The students researched the targeted programs, prepared information, posters, and gathered information from the Blair County Community Action Agency to hand out to the participants.
