Internship Coordinator, Office of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
Thomas Shaffer is Penn State Altoona's Internship Coordinator, Office of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. He is responsible for establishing relationships with community organizations and networks to facilitate internships for our students from all academic programs of the Altoona College. These internships are often the "capstone", or final course, in a student's education. He has developed guidelines and procedures for preparing for internships which help to ensure quality experiences for both student and community host, and has substantial experience in both negotiating and establishing these experiences as well as monitoring them and quickly working with faculty, student, and host to address any problems with quality that may emerge.
