The Penn State Altoona Adult Center was established in 1986 to
provide a range of services for adults considering first-time college
enrollment or return to the college classroom after "stopping out" for a period
of time.The Adult Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
and evenings by appointment. During the first week of classes both Fall and
Spring semester, the Adult Center is open until 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
An advisor with responsibilities primary to adult students is available to
assist adult learners with the transition to college. The Adult Center Advisor
works closely with the admissions counselors and serves as the academic advisor
to many Penn State Altoona adult students. A full-time staff assistant is
assigned to the Adult Center and is also available to assist adult learners.
The Adult Center supports programs and services which include, but are not limited to,

- GO-60 credit course program coordination
- Issues-oriented Workshops
The Registrar's Office and Campus Bookstore also provide services at times convenient
to many adult students. The Bookstore is open year
round Monday evenings until 6 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and offers
expanded evening hours Monday through Thursday the first week of classes.
The Adult Center recently underwent a physical change. We are no longer in the
office of Admissions. The Adult Center, the Adult Center advisor, and the Adult
Center staff assistant have moved to the Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS)
office in C112 Smith.
