So, I had my interview. It wasn’t that bad. The professors at Shippensburg are really nice and passionate about counseling. The interview consisted of about 25 other candidates to various concentrations of counseling sitting around in a circle with all of the professors. The professors told us about themselves and then we had to introduce ourselves and explain why we wanted to be a counselor. We then split up into our concentrations (college, elementary guidance counseling, etc..) There were about five of us that are applying for college counseling. We sat around and talked about our experiences but it was really up to us to talk. The professors sat there waiting for us to talk and test the silence. I’m sure that interviews are different at every school, so it would probably be stress-reducing to get into contact with someone who is already a graduate student and talk to them about it. I was told it would be two weeks until I get an answer. It’s going to be a long two weeks!
