Students pursing the Associate Degree in Business Administration (2BA) will work with highly qualified faculty in business, law, management, marketing, and information systems. Upon completion of the associate degree in business, you may also choose to proceed seamlessly to the bachelor of science in business here at Altoona or to selected other majors in the Penn State system. You will work with an experienced faculty member as your academic advisor.

B A 242: Social and Ethical Environment of Business
Explores the social and ethical environment of business and ethical decision making in a business context.
B A 250: Small Business Management
Analysis of problems of the small firm, particularly for the student who wishes to venture into business.
CAS 100A: Effective Speech
Principles of communication, implemented through presentation of speeches with some attention to group discussion and message evaluation.
ECON 004: Introduction to Macroeconomics and Policy
National income measurement; aggregate economic models; money and income; policy problems.
ENGL 202D: Business Writing
Instruction in writing persuasive arguments about significant issues in the social sciences. (A student may take only one course for credit from ENGL 202A, 202B, 202C, and 202D.) Prerequisite: ENGL 015 or ENGL 030 ; fourth-semester standing.
IST 110: Intro to IST
The use, analysis, and design of information systems and technologies to organize, coordinate, and inform human enterprises.
IST 210: Organization of Data
Introduction to concept of databases including the storage, manipulation, evaluation, and display of data and related issues.
MATH 004: Intermediate Algebra
Algebraic expressions, linear, absolute value equations and inequalities, lines, systems of linear equations, integral exponents, polynomials, and factoring. This course may not be used to satisfy the basic minimum requirements for graduation in any baccalaureate degree program.
Prerequisite: basic arithmetic skills or satisfactory performance on the mathematics proficiency examination
MATH 021: College Algebra I
Quadratic equations, equations in quadratic form, word problems, graphing, algebraic fractions, negative and rational exponents, and radicals. Prerequisite: MATH 004 or satisfactory performance on the mathematics proficiency examination.
MIS 103: Microcomputer Applications in Business
Introduction to current business issues of the microcomputer, including spreadsheets, database management, word processing, and decision-making models.
MIS 204: Intro to Business Information System
Introduction to the use of information systems in business organizations.
STAT 200 (4cr): Elementary Statistics
Descriptive statistics, frequency distributions, probability, binomial and normal distributions, statistical inference, linear regression, and correlation.
