Welcome to the Department of Chemistry at Penn State Altoona! The department offers students the opportunity to study the key areas of chemistry: analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic and physical. Our department currently has 5 tenured or tenure-track faculty, 4 teaching faculty, a Science Lab Coordinator, and a Chemistry Lab Technician.

The department provides a uniquely stimulating environment for scientific discoveries through close interaction between students and faculty.  Outstanding research projects span a wide range of disciplines. Much of the research performed by our faculty is highly interdisciplinary, and significantly contributes to the advancement of the sciences and that of our students.  Organic, inorganic, physical and theoretical chemistry is paired with cutting edge cross-disciplinary research in the biosciences, materials science, and nanotechnology.
