DUAL ENROLLMENT PROGRAM AT PENN STATE ALTOONA
ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOLS SENIORS- PENN STATE TUITION WITH 50% SAVINGS
Penn State Altoona will offer any high school senior a grant-in-aid that results in a 50% savings on tuition for courses taken at our campus, beginning in Fall 2006. Students must meet the eligibility requirements for the PACE (Preparatory Academic Collegiate Experience) Program at Penn State Altoona. The eligibility requirements for PACE are:
- High School Counselor recommendation
- An official high school transcript showing an A average in college prep or honors courses
- SAT scores (minimum score of 1050 on the verbal and math portions combined)
- English placement testing into English 015 through Penn State Altoona
- PACE Coordinator recommendation
- Students must be in the Penn State Altoona service area (all of Bedford, Blair, Cambria and Huntingdon counties, plus the northern half of Somerset county)
By enrolling in the PACE Program at Penn State Altoona, qualifying seniors will receive:
- A 50% grant-in-aid for tuition costs
- College courses instructed by Penn State professors
- The use of on-campus learning resources center, tutoring, advising, library, and computer facilities
- A Penn State id card and email access account
- Exposure to college classrooms with other college students, and the opportunity to participate in college activities
- The opportunity to complete general education requirements that will count towards high school graduation as well as college requirements
- Eligibility to receive a $500 scholarship when they enroll in Penn State Altoona upon high school graduation
This opportunity has many advantages for local students, and if used with additional funding under the Governor's Project 720 Initiative, students may take courses at Penn State Altoona for little or no tuition cost to parents.
