Instructions for students
completing the Elementary and Kindergarten Education (EEDAL)
major at PENN STATE ALTOONA:

At least 80 hours of volunteer or
paid education
work experience with elementary age
learners is required for entrance into the EEDAL major. For elementary
education students, these experiences must occur following graduation
from high school and must be in addition to those associated with
courses such as CI 295.

At least 40 of these
age-appropriate 80 hours must be with learners whose cultural, social, or
ethnic backgrounds differ from the candidate's own.
The Work
Experience requirement must be fulfilled by the end of the fall semester
prior to
the entrance to major semester.

required for documentation of these hours. Instructions on the form
should be followed carefully:
Complete section 1-12 on the form
and then give the form to the supervisor along with a self-addressed stamped
envelope. Use the address provided on the form for EEDAL pre-majors: 105
Linden Building, Penn State Altoona, Altoona, PA 16601. Please mark "EEDAL" on the back of
the envelope.
Only forms mailed directly by the supervisor will
be accepted!
(Forms dropped off by students will not be accepted.)
The EEDAL Program Coordinator is
