Connect: Healthy Eating & Exercise Program
What is it?
Connect is designed to help you develop healthier eating and exercise habits. Participants learn to make behavior changes by assessing their readiness to change and by developing an action plan, which may include keeping a food intake journal and developing or revising an exercise program.
How much is it?
Free to Penn State Altoona students!
When is it?
You will first meet individually with the health educator and will then meet weekly in a group format for approximately one hour. Some exceptions are made to meet with students individually.
How long will it last?
The group usually runs for six weeks; however, depending on the needs of the group, participants may meet more briefly or longer.
What is expected of me?
You are responsible for completing any outside work, such as keeping a food intake journal, preparing goals, develop an exercise schedule, etc. You also are expected to be respectful of other group members.
What can I expect from the health educator?
This program is facilitated by the health educator. She will come prepared with handouts, feedback, and support centering on issues such as:
- eating on the run
- understanding your metabolism
- nutrition basics

- dieting myths
- personalized exercise plans
