CD Drive
Special Notes on this Tutorial
To use this tutorial, you must have a computer, a set of screwdrivers (if needed to open the case), and a CD drive to replace the old one or to just install in your computer.

Step One: Opening the Case.
The first thing you should do before installing any type of hardware in your computer, is to open up the computer, and become familiar with where all the parts are and what they do. Remember to never install hardware on a carpeted floor, this will cause static that will potentially damage the internal parts of your computer. Instead, place down card board, and make sure you are well grounded. To open your computer case, generally you will need to look in the back of the case for a couple of screws that hold the side onto the rest of the case. Unscrew these with your screw driver, and slide the case down to reveal the inner workings of the computer.

Step Two: Configuring the Drive
Insert the audio out cable into your CD drive and set the jumpers on the back. Jumpers tell the drive what start up sequence it is in. If you are going to place the drive on an IDE cable that already has a drive, you probably want make sure the jumpers are set to slave. Else you probably want it on master. The IDE cables are the ribbon type wires inside your PC. The primary channel is the one your hard drive is attached to, all the others are secondary channels. If you are unsure check the directions to see exactly how they should be set. A Map for the jumpers are usually placed somewhere on the drive.

Step Three: Removing the old Hard Drive
You will take out the old CD Drive by unscrewing or unclipping the side and sliding it out, and unplugging all of the cable attached to it.

Step Four: Did it work?
Once this is done, you will simply slide the new CD drive back into the slot you took the old one from and screw it in. Then, you will need to attach the IDE cable back into the hard drive. At this point you can put the case back together, because you've just installed the new hard drive.
