Special Notes on this Tutorial
To use this tutorial you must have a working install of the Windows Operating System (OS).
Step One: Downloading Netscape
The first thing you need to do obviously is download Netscape. It can be obtained at
http://netscape.com/ns8.
Step Two: Installation Configuration for Windows/Mac
If you are on a windows system, all you will have to do is go to the explorer, and surf to wherever you saved the file.
Once you see the icon for the .exe you will need to click on it to start the install. Once installed it will put
an icon on your desktop that prompts you to configure it. Put in your account information (an AIM or another
account specified in this window will work) then hit enter. Once you finish this step, Netscape has been installed
correctly.
Adding bookmarks
Bookmarks are a link that you add to a menu on the browser so that you can easily navigate back to a site you've
particularly liked without memorizing the URL of the site. To add a bookmark you will need to go to the toolbar
at the top of the internet explorer screen and click on the book marks section. When you get there, you will need to
click on the Add Bookmark option. You will now be prompted to give the book mark a title, do so and click
okay. Now, to access a bookmark you will need to click on the bookmarks tab at the top of the screen again,
then click on the bookmark in the menu below that you would like to visit.
Tabbed Browsing
One advantage of firefox and netscape both have over most other major browsers is that it has a feature called tabbed
browsing. This means that you can have several different web pages open in one browser, and helps alleviate a lot of
clutter on your desktop. To open a tab to start browsing in you can either hit and hold control and t
with the firefox browser focused or you can simply go to file in the toolbar at the top of the program and
then select new tab.
