Special Notes on this Tutorial
To use this tutorial, you must have a computer, a set of screwdrivers (if needed to open the case), and ram
that is compliant with your computer.
Step One: Opening the Case.
The first thing you should do before installing any type of hardware in your computer, is to open up the computer,
and become familiar with where all the parts are and what they do. Remember to never install hardware on a carpeted
floor, this will cause static that will potentially damage the internal parts of your computer. Instead, place
down card board, and make sure you are well grounded. To open your computer case, generally you will need to look in
the back of the case for a couple of screws that hold the side onto the rest of the case. Unscrew these with your
screw driver, and slide the case down to reveal the inner workings of the computer.
Step Two: Removing the Old RAM
If you are not removing ram then you should skip this step.
Next, if you are removing a stick of ram, you have to identify it, and pull it out of the slot. There is a picture of
where a stick of ram is likely to be on your motherboard here. If it isn't
there, check the inside of your case, there's likely to be a map of your motherboard.
Step Three: Installing the new card
You will now insert the new RAM into the slot you've just removed the old one from. To do this, you will need
to firmly but carefully push the RAM into the proper slot. So that it is in tightly. Now you may put the case
back together, and restart the computer. You've just installed the RAM.
