No Modem Found or Installed
Solution 1: Right Click on My Computer. Click on Properties, then click on the Hardware tab. Next Click on the Device
Manager Button. If your modem is not installed, it will be under the Unknown Device tab. Then click on reinstall
drivers. This should then solve your issue.
Solution 2: Right Click on My Computer. Click on Properties, then click on the Hardware tab. Next Click on the Device
Manager Button. Under Modems, see if there is a device with a yellow exclamation point beside it. This indicates that
this device was not installed correctly. Click reinstall modem and install correct drivers
No Response from Modem
If your modem doesn't dial out and connect correctly (you should hear a ringing tone, the Penn State modem answers,
presents the typical modem "squawk/squeal" and then it should quit) to a campus modem, these are normally the
causes:
*The modem may be bad.
*Incorrectly wired modem cable - if this is the first time you've used the cable.
*Check that the modem is plugged in, and if necessary, turn the modem off and then turn it back on.
*Wrong modem selected in the connectoid modem properties sheet.
You Have Been Disconnected From the Computer You've Dialed To
Double-click the connection to try again. If you successfully dial out and connect, but receive the error message,
it means that you supplied an incorrect USERID or PASSWORD in the connectoid. The most likely problem is that you
have the [Caps Lock] key on - or - you misspelled your UserID or password. It also may be a problem with your PSU
Access UserID. Try again very carefully. If you are still unsuccessful, contact your local Help Desk to verify your
PSU Access Account.
