Outdoor Mural Unveiled

Committed to the beautification of downtown Altoona as well as the promotion of the arts in the community, Penn State Altoona has unveiled a new public art project in the City's downtown. Located on the outside rear wall of the college's Devorris Downtown Center, a vinyl wallscape measuring 30' high by 60' wide was installed this summer.

The wallscape is a reproduction of the painting Altoona Rail by Kenneth Cotlar of Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, and inspired by an original photograph by Bill Rodgers of Sidman, Pennsylvania. A selection committee was charged with selecting work that would successfully integrate with the surrounding landscape.
