Distinguished Service Award
Recognizes alumni and friends of the college who have significantly contributed to Penn State Altoona by volunteering their talent and time on behalf of the institution. Consideration is based on service that enhances the reputation of Penn State Altoona among internal and external audiences, bolsters admissions initiatives, or stimulates increased involvement of students, faculty, staff, and alumni in the life of the college.

As a member of the Advisory Board and Development Council, Hite has been at the forefront of every major development initiative at Penn State Altoona over the last decade. He was the first benefactor to support Ivyside Pride!, embracing the vision of a musical ensemble that would significantly enhance Penn State Altoona's cultural arts program and expand the college's presence throughout the community. Early in 2006, The Hite Company established a Trustee Scholarship in honor of an employee celebrating fifty years of service.
