Fridays on the Plaza

Fridays on the Plaza

Classic films and cool jazz tunes hit downtown Altoona this summer. Thanks to a partnership between Penn State Altoona and the Greater Altoona Economic Development Corporation, free outdoor entertainment was held on various Fridays in Curtin Plaza along 11th Avenue. Hundreds of people of all ages turned out for the eight Friday events, to listen to bands—including Blue Number Nine, Tommy Wareham and the Intrigues, the Randy Jackson Jazz Band, and South Southern Delta—and view films—including Citizen Kane, Some Like It Hot, North by Northwest, Rebel Without a Cause, Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Maltese Falcon, Rear Window, and Jaws—on Penn State Altoona's outdoor inflatable screen. Local favorite Clem's Ribs, wings by Quaker Steak and Lube, martinis, and other beverages were available for purchase.
