Fridays on the Plaza9-11 Anniversary
This September, the nation marked the six-year anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks that killed more than 3,000 people in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. Thirty-six Penn State Altoona students and ROTC members, and four ROTC instructors honored the forty victims of United Flight 93, which crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, by running one mile for each life lost. The run was a round-robin style around campus and took about five hours to complete. Students, faculty, and staff were encouraged to sign a "Banner of Hope," and wear a red, white, and blue pin to support the runners as well as those who died in the attacks. |
