Penn State Altoona hosts Jazz Band Festival

ALTOONA, Pa. – The PMEA (Pennsylvania Music Educators Association) District Six Jazz Band Festival will be held at Penn State Altoona on Thursday, January 26, through Saturday, January 28. PMEA District Six represents schools in Blair, Bedford, Cambria, and Somerset counties. The festival is comprised of 91 student participants, 30 high school music directors and three guest conductors (Barry Enzman, Kevin Eisensmith and David Detwiler). The festival includes rehearsals, clinics, and special concerts for the participants. For the second year, the festival includes a jazz vocal ensemble. This year’s guest jazz vocal ensemble director is Sheryl Monkelien.

The festival concludes with a concert, free and open to the public, on Saturday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. in the Community Arts Center theatre.
