Minor in Psychology
The Psychology Minor is designed to provide undergraduate students with a flexible selection of coursework in psychology. Students completing this minor will acquire a broad overview of topics and domains within psychology, knowledge and skills related to research methods in psychology, and deeper knowledge of research, theory, and application in one or two specific content areas.
The Psychology Minor complements many major programs such as Human Development and Family Studies, Criminal Justice, and Business. The minor may be appropriate for students pursuing graduate training or professional careers in various fields such as health, education, social work, and law, as well as in psychology.
Requirements for the Minor - 18 credits of psychology courses
The 18 credits must include the following:
- Introductory Psychology - PSYCH 100
- Research Methods - PSYCH 301W*
- 12 credits of your choice, with half at the 400-level
*PSYCH 301W has a prerequisite of STAT 200 or PSYCH 200 that does not count toward the minimum 18 credits
HD FS 312W may be used to substitute for PSYCH 301W, but 3 additional credits of psychology must be taken so you have18 credits of PSYCH courses
A grade of C or better is required for all courses in the minor.
Courses taken for the minor may also count toward General Education, major, and other college requirements.
