Registration: Rally in the Rotunda

Students of Penn State Altoona:

Tuition for attending this University is on the rise, with no relief in sight. This is largely due to the lack of state funding from our Pennsylvania State Government. So in collaboration with the Student Governments from the other Penn State campuses and the Commonwealth of Student Governments, we are holding the Rally in the Rotunda on Wednesday, April 2, 2008. The Rally will be held in the Capitol in Harrisburg where we will voice our concerns about state appropriations and fight for more state funding.

To make this truly a success, we need you, the greatest aspect of this University, the student, to participate. We will leave campus on April 2 at 9 a.m. by bus, which is free of charge to all. We will attend the Rally, tour the Capitol, and see our government at work. Everyone will be able to go and get dinner themselves at the various restaurants in walking distance. We will then depart for home at 5 p.m.

Please contact your teachers that you will be missing class. Most of them know of the event but make sure they know you will be attending and the work you may have to make up. You will have to provide for your own meal. But those who sign up have a chance to receive a $10 gift card to Sheetz. To ensure we have an accurate count of those attending, we are asking for a $10 deposit which will be immediately returned to you when you walk onto the bus on April 2.

To sign up, click on the "REGISTER NOW" link below and fill out the on-line form. Mohammed Raouda, Chairman of the Government Affairs Committee will contact you to confirm and collect your deposit. If you have any questions, contact him at MSR5107@psu.edu or 814-889-8233.

Now is our chance to have our voices heard and fight for lower tuition or at least not an increase and learn about the state government process.
