Spanish Minor Requirements

Spanish Courses

Foreign Language Policy

To complete the Spanish Minor, students must take a minimum of 18 credit hours beyond the Spanish 3 level. The following required courses must be taken sequentially over three separate semesters:
     Spanish 100        Intermediate grammar and composition
     Spanish 200        Intensive grammar and composition
     Spanish 300W    Advanced grammar and composition through reading

Nine credits may then be taken from the following courses; six must be at the 400 level:
     Spanish 110        Intermediate conversation
     Spanish 197        Special topics
     Spanish 210        Readings in Iberian civilization
     Spanish 220        Readings in Ibero-American Civilization
     Spanish 253        Introduction to Hispanic Literature
     Spanish 297        Special topics
     Spanish 305        Spanish for social services
     Spanish 353        Survey of Spanish literature before 1700
     Spanish 354        Survey of Spanish literature since 1700
     Spanish 355        Survey of Spanish American literature through "modernismo"
     Spanish 356        Survey of Spanish American literature after"modernismo"
     Spanish 410        Advanced oral expression and communication
     Spanish 412        Translation
     Spanish 414        Spanish phonology
     Spanish 415        Spanish morphology and syntax
     Spanish 418        The evolution of Spanish
     Spanish 420        Spanish for business and international trade
     Spanish 439        Don Quijote
     Spanish 472        The contemporary Spanish novel
     Spanish 476        Masterpieces of Spanish American literature
     Spanish 490        Masterpieces of Spanish prose
     Spanish 491        Masterpieces of Spanish drama and poetry
     Spanish 497        Special topics
