ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's and women's basketball teams will play their 2009 home openers this Saturday, January 10, against Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Penn State Behrend.  Women's tip time is 2:00 PM with the men's game to follow at 4:00.

Saturday is also the annual Take A Kid to the Game Day event at Penn State Altoona where all youngsters 12 and under receive free admission and accompanying adults pay just $1.00.  Activities before, during, and at halftime of both games include autograph sessions and shoot-arounds with the Lion teams.

On the women's side, Behrend holds a 14-5 lead in the all-time series and won both meetings last year by double figures.  Altoona is on a six-game winning streak, the second longest in program history.

The Behrend men have won 19 of the 20 all-time meetings between the schools and defeated Penn State Altoona three times in 2007-2008.  The Altoona Lions are undefeated at home, and both teams are currently 3-1 in the AMCC.
