PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Penn State Altoona swimmers Adam Capatch (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) and Whitney Weston (South Williamsport, PA/South Williamsport) were named AMCC men's and women's swimmers of the week, the conference office announced Monday. In a win over AMCC competitor Pitt-Bradford, Weston had two individual first place finishes and was part of the freestyle relay that took first. She won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 12:23.82 and took first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:01.40. She also swam the final leg of the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:59.87. Weston was also named AMCC Swimmer of the Week during the week of November 17, 2008. In a 106-87 dual meet win over Pitt-Bradford, Capatch led the Lions with two individual first place finishes and a second in the medley relay. He posted a 200 IM time of 2:17.29 and registered a 1:06.85 in the 100 breaststroke. Both Altoona squads are back in action this coming Saturday, January 17 at the Adler Pool for a dual meet against conference rival Penn State Behrend. Meet time is set for 1:00 PM.
