ALTOONA, Pa. - Women's basketball player Marissa Lucas (Washington, PA/Trinity) and men's basketball player Colin Geiger (Pottstown, PA/Potttsgrove) are the Penn State Altoona Athletes of the Week for the week of January 12-18. Lucas led the Lions to a 1-1 week in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference by averaging 17.5 points per game and 11 rebounds per game. In last Wednesday's loss at Frostburg State, Lucas connected on eight of 13 shots for 16 points and 11 rebounds. Then, this past Saturday, she posted a team-best 19 points and 11 rebounds in a road victory over Medaille. For the season, Lucas is averaging 9.3 points and 6.6 rebounds in just under 24 minutes per game. Geiger continued his strong play by averaging 18.5 points per game along with five rebounds per game in two conference contests during the week. In last Wednesday's loss at Frostburg State, he played a team-high 31 minutes and scored 13 points to go along with his 6 rebounds. This past Saturday, he scored 24 points and pulled down another 4 rebounds fto add to his season total. For the season, Geiger is averaging a team-best 15.1 points and is also collecting an even four rebounds per outing. Geiger is also just 24 points away from becoming just the fourth Penn State Altoona player to reach the 1,000 point milestone for his career.
