Monday, January 26, 2009 Penn State Altoona Athletes of the Week: January 19-25

ALTOONA, Pa. - Men's swimmer Adam Capatch (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg Area) and men's basketball play Colin Geiger (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove) are the Penn State Altoona Athletes of the Week for the week of January 19-25.

Capatch led the Lions in their only meet during the week against Hood College on January 24, where he helped Altoona win 124-63 by capturing two first place finishes of his own.  The freshman emerged victorious in the 200 Yard IM after clocking a 2:17.92 and followed that up with a 1:07.91 to win the 100 Yard Breaststroke.

Geiger averaged 15.3 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game during the Lions' current three-game winning streak.  On Monday, January 19, Geiger led Altoona to a 76-71 overtime victory over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference rival Mount Aloysius.  During the first moments of the overtime period, he surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career, making him just the fourth Lion men's basketball player to accomplish that milestone.

On the season, Geiger is averaging a team-best 15.1 points and 4.8 rebounds.

The next Penn State Altoona Athletes of the Week will be announced February 2.
