STEUBENVILLE, Oh. - The Penn State Altoona women's basketball team held Franciscan University to just under 24% shooting, and the Lions captured a 67-42 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory over the Barons Thursday night.

Four Altoona players scored in double-figures, including sophomore Courtney Carroll (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle), who netted a team-high 14 points, seven rebounds, and six steals.

Freshman Angie Proper (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) helped out with 13 points of her own, and Alicia Glasser (Marion Center, PA/Marion Center) and Tamara Thomas (Altoona, PA/Altoona) each notched 10 points a piece.

Franciscan was paced by Cara Mitchell, who was the only Baron in double-figures with 19 points despite shooting just 6-for-22 (27%) from the field.

In the first five minutes of the first half, Altoona jumped out 8-0 and never gave up the lead.

The Lions held a significant advantage in bench points with a 29-9 edge, thanks to Thomas' and Proper's scoring efforts with the second unit.  Altoona also connected on 9-for-11 from the free-throw line on the evening, opposed to Franciscan, who made just 13 of 25 attempts from the stripe.

This was the second battle between Altoona and the Barons this season, as the Lions claimed a decisive 88-27 victory on December 3 to start a program-best seven-game win streak.  During that game, Altoona  forced 53 turnovers and had 36 steals.

The win pushes the Lions to 11-5 overall and 9-2 in the AMCC.

Altoona is back in action this Saturday, January 31, for a 2:00 PM meeting with the La Roche Redhawks at the Adler Gymnasium.  This will be the second meeting between Altoona and La Roche, as the Lions escaped their December 10 matchup with a 54-53 victory on the road.
