ATHLETIC NEWSMen's and women's basketball host La Roche SaturdayFriday, January 30, 2009
ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's and women's basketball teams return home from a three-game Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference road trip to host La Roche College Saturday afternoon at the Adler Gym. Women's tip time is slated for 2:00 PM with the men's contest to follow at 4:00. The Lion women, currently 11-5 overall and 9-2 in the AMCC, are fresh off a 67-42 drubbing of Franciscan University on Thursday. The squad is a perfect 6-0 at home this year. Freshman Angie Proper (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) converted the game-winning 3-point play when the Redhawks and Lions met earlier this season in Pittsburgh. On the men's side, La Roche got the better of Altoona in the teams' earlier meeting by a 60-46 count. The Redhawks have won four of the last five meetings in the series but slipped up this past Wednesday when they lost to Hilbert. Altoona is 5-0 at home this season. Prior to opening tip, senior Colin Geiger (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove) will be honored for scoring his 1,000th career point. Visit the men's and women's basketball schedule pages to view full game notes for both games. MORE INFORMATION...
