ATHLETIC NEWSWomen's basketball drops second straight home game to LycomingMonday, February 2, 2009ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's basketball team fell to non-conference opponent Lycoming College 67-49 Monday night, and the Lions dropped their second home game in as many games. Altoona quickly jumped out 5-0 to start the game, but the Warriors took the lead at the 15:51 mark of the first half and would never give it back. The Lions were paced by sophomore Courtney Carroll's (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) 16 points and seven rebounds, and freshman Tamara Thomas' (Altoona, PA/Altoona) 11 points and seven rebounds. Junior Alicia Glasser (Marion Center, PA/Marion Center) also contributed eight points of her own. On the Lycoming side, Allison Mock put up great numbers with 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including four three-pointers. Mock also ripped six rebounds and connected on 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Andrea Cooper also helped the Warrior effort with 15 points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots. The Lions were outrebounded 42-34, and Altoona gave up 15 offensive rebounds during the evening. Lycoming was also able to force 21 Lion turnovers resulting in 26 points of their own. The Warriors held a 32-28 advantage in points in the paint, and a 16-10 edge in bench points. Altoona is back in action this Wednesday for an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup with the Pitt-Bradford Panthers. Game time is set for 6:00 at the Adler Gymnasium. MORE INFORMATION...
