ALTOONA, Pa. - Four players reached double figures, and the Penn State Altoona women's basketball team shot a blazing 57.1% from the floor en route to a 90-72 victory over Medaille College Saturday afternoon at the Adler Gym as part of the Lions' first-ever Pink Zone game.

Dawning pink uniforms, Altoona couldn't miss in the opening half and began the game a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor as it jumped out to 13-4 lead.  The Lions made 19-of-34 first-half field goals (55.9%) and held a commanding 46-31 lead at intermission after Medaille made just 12 baskets in the opening period.

The Lady Mavs also were hurt by the turnover bug in the first half, committing 18 turnovers that resulted in 24 Penn State Altoona points.  As the Lions knocked down 591% of its second-half field goals, Medaille connected on only 33% of its shots in the second half.

Junior Alicia Glasser (Marion Center, PA/Marion Center) led the Altoona charge with 17 points before fouling out midway through the second half.  Teammates Marissa Lucas (Washington, PA/Washington) and Kelli Steiner (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) added 16 apiece, and Tamara Thomas (Altoona, PA/Altoona) scored 15.

Medaille also placed four players in double figures led by Amanda Boron's 14 points including 8-of-9 at the foul line.  Tanisha Travis (13), Tiffany Sullivan (12), and Mameyaa Mensa (10) also reached double digits for the Mavs, which made only 1-of 10 from 3-point range.

A Steiner trey with 3:46 left in the opening stanza gave Penn State Altoona its largest lead of the half at 41-21.  Medaille closed the half on a 10-5 spurt to set the halftime score, but Altoona bumped its advantage back up to 20 just minutes into half number two.

The lead remained double digits the entire half, but the Mavs did get to within 10 points (68-58) with 6:40 to play.  The Lions answered with an 8-2 run that pushed the lead to 16 and held off Medaille down the stretch to seal the win.

The visitors stayed within striking distance in large part thanks to free throws, making 25-of-34 attempts on the night.

Penn State Altoona (15-8, 12-4) will take on Pitt-Greensburg this Wednesday, February 18, at the Adler Gym.  Tip time is 6:00 PM.
