ATHLETIC NEWSThomas named AMCC Player of the WeekMonday, February 16, 2009PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Women's basketball freshman forward Tamara Thomas (Altoona, PA/Altoona) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 16, the league office announced Monday. Thomas led the Lions to a 3-0 week that included conference wins over Frostburg State and Medaille. She had a career-high 27 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals against Frostburg St., then followed up with 25 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists versus defending champion Medaille. The freshman also contributed 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals in a non-conference win over Lancaster Bible as the Lions remained second in the 10-team league. For the week Thomas averaged 17.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.3 spg, shot 55.5% from the floor and 100% (13-13) from the line. It was her first-ever AMCC Player of the Week selection and second this year for a Lion player. Junior Alicia Glasser collected the honor on January 12. MORE INFORMATION...
