ALTOONA, Pa. - For the first time in program history, the Penn State Altoona men's basketball team will participate in the Eastern College Athletic Conference South Region playoffs as the number eight seed and travel to top-seeded Cabrini College Wednesday night for a 7:00 PM match-up, the ECAC announced Monday. The Lions (14-12) have already matched a single-season record for wins and set a new school mark for Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victories with 11. Altoona fell in the first round of the AMCC playoffs to Frostburg State. Cabrini, led by former Pitt-Greensburg coach Marcus Kahn, sits at 20-7 overall after losing in the championship game of the Colonial States Athletic Conference. The Cavaliers have three players averaging double figure points and are an impressive 15-1 at home this season. AMCC members Pitt-Bradford and Penn State Behrend are also in the ECAC South Region Tournament field and will host first round games against Washington & Jefferson and Bethany (WV), respectively.
