HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Juniata College used lockdown pitching and plenty of offensive firepower to coast past Penn State Altoona Friday afternoon in a non-conference softball doubleheader. The Eagles took the opener 8-0 in five innings and won the nightcap 7-1. In game one, Juniata scored in all five innings, plating the winning run in the bottom of the fifth on a single by Rachel Nagy. Freshmen Alanna Luzier (Frenchville, PA/Clearfield) and Kelly McVay (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport) had the lone Lion hits. Andrea Layton (Everett, PA/Everett) suffered the loss. Juniata held a slim 1-0 lead after three innings of game two, but the Eagles scored two runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to widen the margin.
