ATHLETIC NEWSTennis steps out of conference to knock off St. VincentTuesday, March 31, 2009ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's tennis team won two of three doubles flights and emerged victorious in five of the six singles matches en route to a 7-2 non-league victory over St. Vincent Tuesday at the Ivyside Courts. Kyle Yerty (Roaring Spring, PA/Central) and Andrew Rosborough (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) won both their singles and doubles flights on the afternoon. Yerty teamed with Scott Pickrell (Altoona, PA/Altoona) to win at #2 doubles before squeezing out a 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 (8) win at #4 singles. Rosborough and Pat Bloom (Montoursville, PA/Montoursville) won #3 doubles by default, and Rosborough coasted to a 6-4, 6-2 win at #5 singles. Steve James (Muncy, PA/Hughesville) and Thomas Van Antwerp (Somerset, PA/Somerset) won their #1 and #2 singles matches, respectively.
