ATHLETIC NEWSPickrell's win at #3 singles squeaks men's tennis past FrostburgWednesday, April 1, 2009ALTOONA, Pa. - With the match all square at 4-4 and players from both teams watching, freshman Scott Pickrell (Altoona, PA/Altoona) rallied for a 3-6, 7-6, 7-6 (6) victory at #3 singles to lead the Penn State Altoona men's tennis squad over Frostburg State 5-4 Wednesday afternoon. Pickrell also teamed with Kyle Yerty (Roaring Spring, PA/Central) to earn an 8-5 win at #2 doubles. Pat Bloom (Montoursville, PA/Montoursville) and Andrew Rosborough (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) scored an 8-6 win at #3 doubles to help the Lions win two of three doubles flights. Frostburg won the top two singles flights and also picked up a three-set win at #6 singles. Yerty emerged victorious at #4 singles by scores of 6-4, 6-4 and Rosborough went three sets to win the fifth singles flight. Penn State Altoona improved to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. The Lions host Penn State Behrend this Sunday at 10:00 AM. MORE INFORMATION...
