Monday, April 6, 2009 Heine sets baseball single-season home run record

ALTOONA, Pa. - Through just 26 games, freshman outfielder Cord Heine (Malvern, PA/Mercersburg) has surpassed the Penn State Altoona baseball single-season home run record previously held by Chris Scelsi.  By hitting three home runs in a doubleheader Sunday against Penn State Behrend, Heine has 10 thus far, one more than Scelsi hit in 2006.

In his first ten games during spring break, he belted four dingers and hit one in doubleheaders against St. Vincent, Medaille, and Pitt-Greensburg.  For the season, Heine is hitting .348 with 32 RBI and a .717 slugging percentage.

He currently leads the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference in both home runs and RBI and ranks in the top five in hits and total bases.
