ATHLETIC NEWSTennis wins all nine flights, rolls past GreensburgMonday, April 13, 2009ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's tennis team won all three doubles flights and cruised to victories in the six singles matches as it rolled past Pitt-Greensburg 9-0 Monday afternoon at the Ivyside Courts. The Lions earned shutout wins at number two and three doubles and blanked their opponents at the second, third, and fifth singles slots. In doubles play, Stephen James (Muncy, PA/Hughesville) and Thomas Van Antwerp (Somerset, PA/Somerset) won 8-1, Scott Pickrell (Altoona, PA/Altoona) and Kyle Yerty (Roaring Spring, PA/Central) won 8-0, and Pat Bloom (Montoursville, PA/Montoursville) and Andrew Rosborough (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) also grabbed an 8-0 victory. James, Van Antwerp, Pickrell, Yerty, Rosborough, and Justin Hess (Saxton, PA/Tussey Mountain) handily won their six singles matches, respectively. Van Antwerp, Pickrell, and Rosborough won by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Altoona improved to 8-2 overall and 5-2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
