ALTOONA, Pa. - Baseball players Jim Byers (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) and John Schall (Snow Shoe, PA/Bald Eagle) are the co-Penn State Altoona Athletes of the Week for the week of May 4 through May 11.

Both sported identical .526 batting averages in four games during the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship round this past weekend in Erie.

Byers cracked 10 hits including four doubles and a home run to go along with six runs scored and seven RBI.  Schall was equally impressive, also smacking 10 hits and driving in seven runs while stroking three doubles and scoring three times.

Neither player committed an error in the field, and they combined to strike out only three times in 38 at-bats.

The final Penn State Altoona Athletes of the Week for the 2008-2009 season will be announced on Monday, May 18.
