Penn State Altoona Challenge Cup Tournament
September 12-14, 2008
- METHODS OF DETERMINING A CHAMPION:
- All games will follow NCAA Tournament overtime rules.
- The four team men's and women's fields will be narrowed to two after the semi-final games on Saturday. The two winners (or advancing teams) will then meet on Sunday champion will be crowned. The two losing teams from Saturday's games will compete in the consolation game.
- GAME DAY LOGISTICS:
- Pre-Game Format - Teams may take the field for practice 30 minutes prior to the scheduled kick-off or immediately following the preceding game. Other areas are available for warm-up. All games will start on time.
- The Field - Kentucky Blue Grass surface
- Post-Game - A championship trophy will be presented after each of the championship games.
- Uniforms - See above for uniforms colors.
- Game Ball - Will be the Brine NCAA Championship ball
- Locker Rooms - Locker Rooms will be provided before and after each game. The rooms will not be locked during the games. If needed, a nearby room can be locked to store personal belongings during the game. Although they are general population locker rooms, they will be closed off when teams are preparing.
- Training Staff - Training facilities and qualified staff will be available. Please bring appropriate equipment for taping and wrapping.
- ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM:
- The coaches of each team will be asked to select players for the all-tournament team. A total of 12 players will be selected as follows:
- 4 from the Championship Team (including the Tournament MVP)
- 4 from the Runner-up
- 2 from the Third place team
- 2 from the Fourth place team
These details will then be forwarded to each school, by the Sports Information Director.
