SIX PLAYERS SCORE IN WIN OVER PITT-BRADFORD

BRADFORD, PA: The Penn State Altoona men's soccer team
ran its record to 9-1-2 overall and a perfect 5-0 in AMCC play by downing
Pitt-Bradford 6-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The balanced Altoona attack featured six different players
scoring goals and two more picking up assists. Bryan Pierzga led the
attack by scoring the first goal of the game on a penalty kick at the 16
minute mark. He also assisted the final goal of the first half by JC
Campbell and the final goal of the game by Chris Baker.
Josh Guthridge (35:01 mark), Corey Suter (55:54 mark), and
Justin Brunt (60:42 mark) tallied the other three Altoona scores, and
goalkeeper Jon Martin had two saves for the Lions. Brunt, Tim Morris,
and Sean Rhodes all notched assists in the game.
The Lions are hoping to remain ranked in the Mid-Atlantic
Region after securing the 10th place ranking last week. The week
before, Altoona checked in at ninth.
The Lions out-shot Bradford 19-2 in the contest and returns
to action on Tuesday, October 10, as Frostburg State comes to Spring Run
Stadium. It will be Youth Soccer Night on Tuesday, as all the Tyrone,
Altoona, and Hollidaysburg youth soccer associations will have youngsters on
hand to take in the action.
