PLAYING EXPERIENCE
Head Coach Donna KlingDonna Kling enters her fifth season as the head women's basketball coach at Penn State Altoona. In 2008-2009, Kling guided the Lady Lions to the AMCC Semifinals, and the team finished with a 16-10 overall record. Kling's arrival at Penn State Altoona is actually a homecoming of sorts, as the Altoona native began her coaching career at Ivyside, first as an assistant coach in 1987, and then as the head coach from 1988 until 1991, when varsity athletics were eliminated from the Altoona campus. Kling won consecutive Commonwealth Campus Championships during her tenure at Penn State Altoona, and one of her teams also earned an honorable mention ranking for the NJCAA. After leaving campus, Kling began a successful coaching career at Bishop Guilfoyle High School in Altoona, working as the assistant varsity coach for the girls' team from 1990 until 2001, when she was handed the head coaching duties for a year. She then returned to her position as an assistant coach during the 2002-03 season. Aside from being the assistant coach, Kling was also the junior varsity coach for 11 years, an assistant coach for the freshmen team for four years, and coach of the seventh grade team from 2003 until 2005. She has also worked at various summer basketball camps at local and college levels, as well as with a number of elementary programs. As a player, Kling graduated from Bishop Guilfoyle in 1982 and was a member of three District 6 Championship teams. She graduated from Penn State University in 1986 with a degree in Special Education, and spent two years playing basketball at Penn State Altoona where she twice received All-Conference honors from the Commonwealth Campus Athletic Association and was also named as a NJCAA Region 20 All-Star.
