Coach Cummings enters her eighth season as head coach of the Penn State Altoona men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams.  The Altoona native took over the program in 2002 after three years at the helm of the Tyrone and Hollidaysburg YMCA swimming teams.  A 1982 graduate of Hollidaysburg Senior High School, Cummings swam competitively for the Golden Tigers and continued to remain active in the sport at the Hollidaysburg YMCA, where she has coached for seven years.  Her connections to the local YMCA have aided in attracting some of the top local scholastic swimmers to Penn State Altoona.  She has led the Lion men’s and women’s swimming teams to consecutive Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference runner-up finishes in the last two years.  Cummings became the first-ever Penn State Altoona coach to attend the NCAA Women’s Coaching Academy in June 2008.  She currently resides in Altoona with her husband, John, and her three children, Alex, Aaron, and Addison, all of whom are active in youth swimming.
